ANNAN U14 TIGERS XV V MOFFAT U14 RAMS XV.

GALANT CONFERENCE B
17TH NOVEMBER 2019

Match Report from: Coach Calum Heughan

Annan u14s Tigers welcomed their opponents Moffat Rams to Violetbank on a very busy day for the club. Game 3 out of 5 in November and the Tigers were up for this derby match. A healthy squad of 19 giving the coaches some options try some players out of position.

Annan were out of the blocks very quickly and would not take the foot off the gas for the duration of the game. First over the try line was Deacon Henderson and this was to be the first of 14 tries for the Black and Yellows. More tries were to come from captain Adam Hamilton, Remo Armstrong and Mason Watret. A single score by the visitors was to see out the first 20 minutes.

Annan were to keep the tempo up for the remainder of the game and were to entertain the crowd with some great running rugby from a team galvanised by the prospect of so much rugby in such a short time frame. More scores from Fraser Court, Hamilton, James Collinge and Armstrong were to see the home side score from everywhere on the park with length of the pitch running not daunting a team with their confidence brimming.

A final score of 51 -3 was a fair reflection on the day as Annan were dominant in so many areas of the game.  Scores from line out balls straight off the training ground were great to see but the team performance overall was so pleasing for the coaches.

Ewan Bell and Oban Nicholson again running strongly with support from  Mason Watret and Remo Armstrong backed up by captain Hamilton gave Annan so much go forward ball. Great service from Scrum half Ruari Heughan to James Collinge who is leading his back division with great maturity was to see Fraser Court score 3 tries and Harry Nordon play the game of his season so far.

Aaron Kirkup at fullback was on fire with ball in hand and kicking goal with 9 conversions slotted. Zak Stevenson proving valuable as a utility player being comfortable in the backs and forwards was to put in a good shift in the hard yards area. Strong running from Niall Patterson who always presents the ball well in the tackle and confidence building play from James Glendinning will do the youngster plenty of good.

Altogether an outstanding performance by the Tigers which sets us up for very busy week with games on Wednesday night against Langholm and Sunday against East Kilbride.
