ANNAN P6-P7 TIGERS AT WIGTOWNSHIRE RUGBY.

RUGBY FESTIVAL
6TH OCTOBER 2019

P6-P7 Tiger report from: Jack Tinning

On Sunday, the Annan P6/7 Tigers travelled to Stranraer to play at the Wigtownshire Mini Rugby Festival. After being told that kick off would be delayed by half an hour owing to flooding on the road, everyone travelling endured a 30-mile detour. The lads arrived at 11 am to find that all had arrived on time allowing for the original KO time of 11 am.

After a very quick warm up, the home team Wigtownshire was the first game of the day against the Tigers. With only 8 players in the P6/7 team there were no subs, as all players played every game. Although a long journey, the Annan Team warmed up throughout the game with a finishing score of 5 – 3. Try Scorers: Rohan Cother, Dan Stevenson, Filip Wisniewskie, Aidan Tinning and Ben Richardson.

The Tigers went straight back on and played old friends Moffat, now starting to show good pace and hard tackling they ran out 5 – 1 winners with Ben Richardson, Oliver Hutchinson, Dan Stevenson, Aidan Tinning and Jack Hutchinson scoring.

After a break, we then played Stewartry Sharks. This was a rather one-sided affair with the Tigers romping to a victory with a score of 8 – 2. Try scorers: Filip Wisniewskie X 3, Aidan Tinning X 2, Ben Richardson X 2 and Dan Stevenson X 1.

Last up for the Tigers were Newton Stewart with the Annan Team not showing any signs of being tired, the game ended in a 5 – 0 win for the Tigers, with Philip, Aidan, Oliver, Dan and Ben getting the scores.

All in all it was a very good morning’s rugby. It was great to see so many different try scorers. Pleasing things from a coaching point of view, to see how hard the Team worked in defence and then able to turn defence into attack. Though a few of the tackles were starting to come up too high this will need to be worked on in training.

A special mention for Rohan’s double miss pass to get the ball out wide into the space for Aidan to score. And also Danny Bell, who tackled and supported every game and this season has improved with every outing.

Thank you to Wigtownshire RFC for their hospitality and to the parents who made the journey (it makes the journey worthwhile when you see how they play).

Players: Aidan Tinning, Dan Stevenson, Ben Richardson, Jack Hutchinson, Oliver Hutchinson, Rohan Cother, Filip Wisniewskie, Danny Bell.
